Using the patented ColdHeat™ system, this cordless iron melts solder instantly and is cool to the touch in just seconds. It has the power to tin wire as large as 12 gauge or join wire from 18-25 gauge, with an average yield of 700 solder joints per pack of five AA alkaline batteries. The unique ColdHeat™ tip design uses two electrically insulated electrodes made of patented Athalite™ material to form part of an internal electrical circuit. Unlike regular soldering irons, pre-heating the tip is not required before soldering can be performed. When the tip’s two electrodes make simultaneous contact with an electrically conductive material (such as a wire lead, terminal, solder, or other material), the circuit is completed. The electrodes generate nearly instantaneous heat in the work piece, melting the solder and making the joint. Unit features rugged polycarbonate body, High/Low/Off power switch, bright white LED?work light, and red “in use” indicator light. Comes with CHT3 chisel tip, protective cap, and hard plastic storage case. AA batteries are not included and must be purchased separately.
