Safely traces electrical circuits, while preventing electrical shocks. Operates by sensing electromagnetic fields through insulation, and thus requires no contact with the conductor wire. Current flow is not necessary to locate voltage. To use, simply apply the plastic probe tip to a connection, or pass it along an insulated wire or cable. If AC voltage is present (between 50 and 1000 VAC), an LED in the probe tip will glow cherry red. Illumination will cease at a break in the circuit or wire. This test instrument can be used to distinguish between "live" and "neutral" wires, detect "hot" wires in both single and three-phase power, locate wires carrying voltage in junction boxes, and identify faulty in-line devices. The pen-size unit fits in your shirt pocket for convenience. All outer surfaces are non-conductive for safety. CAT-III and CAT-IV rated. Comes ready to use with (2) AAA batteries.
