Continuously checks the integrity of wrist straps, proper grounding of personnel and work surfaces, and quality of earth ground wiring connections. Resistance-type monitor Model 724 is more reliable than impedance-type monitors that use conventional single conductor grounding systems. The operator's resistance is included in the test circuit by continuously pulsing (every 2 seconds) a very low 3mA DC current through a special dual-conductor wrist strap and cord, thus eliminating the effects of capacitance. Switches on the side of the unit allow for the selection of test voltages (9V or 16V) and resistance limits (10MW or 35MW). A steady green light appears when wrist strap and conductive work surface are properly grounded and functioning correctly, a flashing yellow light warns you of low (<1.5MW) resistance-to-ground, and a red light plus audible alarm indicates that the operator's resistance-to-ground exceeds 10MW or 35MW. The dual conductor system provides redundant ground paths with an effect similar to wearing two wrist straps. If one conductor fails, the other conductor will continue to ground the operator, preventing product exposure to harmful ESD. The Model 724 also monitors its own connection to ground and the grounding of a work surface. If the resistance of the monitor-to-mat-to-ground path exceeds 3.7MW, the red work surface lamp is lit, the green OK lamp is extinguished, and an optional alarm sounds. Monitor operates on 120VAC and comes complete with AC adapter, remote dual conductor jack (Model 732), mounting hardware, and instructions. Adjustable fabric wrist bands and 5-ft. grounding cords must be purchased separately. Optional stand-by jack (Model 3057) allows operator to unplug the wrist strap and move around without the alarm continually sounding. Optional dual remote splitter kit (Model 733) allows monitoring of two individuals at two separate work stations.
